Getting Started

Eligibility Requirements and Application Information:

• Nursing applications are accepted once a year - Fall and Spring semester. Review the “Application Information” link for the application and detailed applicant requirements. www.goldenwestcollege.edu/nursing/application/
• Admission into our program is based on Multi-Criteria Guidelines, a point-based system.

Meeting the following criteria does not guarantee program admission.

• Completion of prerequisite courses with a grade of “C” or better
  • ENG G100 - English Composition or equivalent (English AP score of 3 or higher)
  • PSYC G118 – Life Span Development
  • COMM G110 – Public Speaking
  • Completion of the three science prerequisite courses with a required minimum of 2.50 GPA. All science courses must be completed within the last 7 years.
    • BIO G220 - Human Anatomy
    • BIO G225 - Human Physiology
    • BIO G210 - General Microbiology
    We do not award points for courses “In Progress.”

    • Pass the ATI TEAS Examination(Version 7) with a score of 62% or higher.

    Admission Selection

    The GWC Nursing program admission is Fall and Spring semesters. Admission is competitive and cohort size is limited. All interested applicants must submit a completed online application by the filing deadline with an official transcript, supporting documentation, and points verification based on the Multi-Criteria Guidelines.

    Qualified applicants are ranked by total application points. Admission selection is based on the highest total application points received and the total available cohort space. A limited number of Alternate Applicants are selected in the event of a cancellation.

    A student who accepts an admission; therafter chooses to rescind their cohort seat, the student is eligible to apply one additonal application cycle.

    All qualified applicants who are not selected for admission are highly encouraged to reapply during the next application filing period.

    The program does not maintain a waitlist.
