Application deadlines and criteria

First-year students should apply online using Common App. View details for all entry terms on the Important Dates and Deadlines page.

Application criteria

Our goal is to admit students who will be successful at WMU and contribute to the Bronco community. Visit the Admissions Criteria page for details on items we consider during application reviews.

Application Fee Waiver

To expedite the timeline for us receiving and reviewing applications and to minimize the number of steps required from you, please use the fee waiver process within the Common App platform. Students who are eligible for an application fee waiver may self-identify on the Common App. As their school counselor, you will receive a notification to review the request. Once you have verified the student's eligibility, we will waive a student's application fee. If you encounter difficulties with the Common App process, you may also send us a copy of the NACAC fee waiver request on behalf of the student. Completed paper waivers may be sent to WMU via mail or electronically to @email.

Assured admission program

WMU is committed to assisting in the education goals of our future students. Increasing access to higher education is an institutional focus, and to support this effort, we have established an Assured Admission program for incoming first-year students. A student's academic performance (including a minimum GPA 3.00+ ) and conduct/behavior are the main criteria for the program. View more information on the Assured Admission Program website.
